As part of cooperation with the city of Malmö, Tyréns performed analyzes of non-motorized and motorized traffic.
As in the case of pedestrian traffic analyses, for calibration purposes, models reflecting the existing condition were built. Then, the forecasted traffic volumes and changes planned by the city were analyzed, including: privileging non-motorized traffic and public transport.
Most of the motorized traffic models that we build for Malmö are designed to check the changes, mainly restrictions for cars, that are planned to be introduced by 2040, in line with the city’s policy. The models already cover most of the city and concern planned reconstructions, construction of bus lanes, reduction of the number of general traffic lanes and improvement of pedestrian and bicycle traffic conditions
Using QGIS software, spatial analyzes of cycling traffic were performed, which in further stages will be used to create a cycling model of the city of Malmö. Many traffic models have been developed for motorized traffic covering most of the city.
