Role description
Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Structural Design Engineer to join our Kraków office and support our cooperation with AKT II in London on high-profile building projects (https://www.akt-uk.com/). AKT II’s outstanding reputation, stability and growth has attracted the very best professionals with the promise of progressing and expanding their careers. This continued growth has led to the expansion of the company into key geographies across the globe.
The role involves close day-to-day cooperation with the London teams. Projects are primarily located in the UK, with the possibility of involvement in international schemes (including the Middle East).
Required skills
- experience of structural design in concrete, steel and timber structures, as well as experience in other structural materials,
- experience of working with Eurocode and other local design guidance,
- knowledge and interest in sustainable design and embodied carbon evaluation,
- a strong analytical knowledge and understanding of engineering principles, combined with practical understanding of buildings and construction,
- a desire to work constructively in a team, finding holistic building design solutions,
- a good understanding of multidisciplinary requirements into coordinated solutions,
- good communication and interpersonal skills,
- computer literate with knowledge of design and analysis programmes,
- understanding of the health & safety regulations and designer’s responsibilities.
Role and responsibilities
- preparing conceptual and outline designs for structural schemes with support of the wider team,
- preparing detailed design calculations to Eurocode and relevant design guidance notes using relevant 3D software packages,
- preparing detailed design drawings and specifications for tender purposes,
- responding to client requests for information,
- supporting the production of construction information for issue to contractors,
- day-to-day support to colleagues from other disciplines within the office,
- attending team meetings with both internal and external disciplines.
