Role description

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Senior Structural Design Engineer to join our Kraków office and support our cooperation with AKT II in London on high-profile building projects (https://www.akt-uk.com/). AKT II’s outstanding reputation, stability and growth has attracted the very best professionals with the promise of progressing and expanding their careers. This continued growth has led to the expansion of the company into key geographies across the globe.

The role involves close day-to-day cooperation with the London teams. Projects are primarily located in the UK, with the possibility of involvement in international schemes (including the Middle East).

For candidates with exceptional experience and strong leadership capabilities, there is an opportunity to join at the level of Principal Structural Design Engineer.

 

Required skills

  • minimum 6 years of professional experience in structural analysis and design of building structures, including office, commercial, industrial, public or similar developments (experience in reinforced concrete structures is particularly desirable),
  • practical experience in designing to Eurocodes and other relevant design standards,
  • experience in independently leading or co-leading structural design projects, including planning engineering activities, coordinating project teams and overseeing the delivery of assigned tasks,
  • strong analytical skills combined with sound engineering judgement and a practical understanding of structural behaviour and construction processes,
  • ability to plan, organise and coordinate both your own work and the work of other engineers within project teams,
  • good understanding of multidisciplinary design requirements and the ability to integrate them into coordinated engineering solutions,
  • collaborative mindset and willingness to contribute to holistic engineering solutions,
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills,
  • proficiency in structural engineering software and computer-based design tools,
  • experience using structural analysis and design software,
  • good command of English, both written and spoken,
  • previous experience working in an international environment would be an advantage,
  • proactive attitude, integrity and strong work ethic.

 

Role and responsibilities

  • developing structural concepts and preliminary design solutions in collaboration with the project team,
  • preparing detailed structural calculations in accordance with Eurocodes and relevant design standards using appropriate 3D structural analysis software,
  • independently leading assigned projects or key project packages, taking responsibility for technical solutions, quality, programme and overall consistency of the design deliverables,
  • proactively developing and optimising structural solutions while considering technical, architectural, construction and commercial aspects of the project,
  • identifying project risks and proposing technical solutions to support efficient project delivery,
  • coordinating the work of engineers and assistant engineers involved in project delivery, including planning and monitoring assigned tasks,
  • coordinating the preparation of project documentation, including reviewing and checking technical drawings,
  • reviewing work prepared by other team members to ensure compliance with technical requirements and quality standards,
  • working closely with multidisciplinary teams and AKT II engineers to coordinate and optimise structural solutions,
  • preparing technical responses to design queries and supporting the coordination process,
  • supporting the preparation of construction information and contractor documentation,
  • providing ongoing technical support to multidisciplinary project teams,
  • supporting the development of less experienced engineers through knowledge sharing and day-to-day technical guidance.
