Description
Due to the development of our cooperation with geotechnical and engineering teams in Sweden, we are looking for a person with experience in geotechnical design, engineering calculations and analyses, and the development of technical solutions for building and infrastructure projects.
The position combines geotechnical design, analysis of ground and groundwater conditions, engineering calculations and preparation of design documentation for infrastructure, building and other multidisciplinary engineering projects.
The work will be based at our office in Kraków and will involve close cooperation with our sister companies in Sweden (https://www.tyrens.se/en). Most of the projects are carried out for the Scandinavian market.
Requirements
- higher education degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a related field, with a specialisation or professional experience in geotechnical engineering,
- minimum 5 years of professional experience in geotechnical design, particularly in infrastructure or civil engineering projects,
- practical experience in the design of geotechnical solutions, particularly in selected areas such as:
- shallow and deep foundations,
- retaining structures, including retaining walls and sheet pile walls,
- earthworks, embankments, excavations and slope stabilisation,
- ground stabilisation and ground improvement,
- experience in performing geotechnical calculations and analyses, particularly:
- stability analyses of slopes, embankments and earth structures,
- bearing capacity calculations for foundations and geotechnical structures,
- settlement and ground deformation analyses,
- ability to interpret ground and groundwater conditions and geotechnical investigation results, including the selection of appropriate soil parameters for design calculations,
- experience in preparing design and technical documentation, including calculations, reports, technical descriptions and specifications,
- knowledge of geotechnical design principles and relevant standards, particularly Eurocode 7,
- ability to independently carry out assigned design tasks, select appropriate calculation methods, evaluate analysis results and propose technical solutions,
- ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams,
- good command of English,
- good organisational skills and attention to detail,
- proactive approach and willingness to develop professionally in an international environment.
Nice to Have
- experience in international infrastructure projects, particularly road, railway, bridge, hydraulic engineering or municipal infrastructure projects,
- practical experience with specialised geotechnical analysis and design software, such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio (Slope/W) or equivalent tools,
- experience in planning geotechnical investigations, analysing field and laboratory test results, and preparing Ground Investigation Reports (GIR),
- experience in advanced numerical analyses and geotechnical modelling, e.g. using the Finite Element Method (FEM),
- experience in coordinating design tasks, checking calculations or supporting less experienced engineers,
- experience in working with clients, contractors and other project stakeholders,
- familiarity with software used in the Swedish market, such as GeoSuite, GS Settlement and GS Stability,
- experience in projects carried out in accordance with Swedish or Scandinavian design standards and practices.
Responsibilities
- designing geotechnical solutions, including foundations, retaining structures, excavations, embankments, and solutions related to ground stabilisation and ground improvement,
- performing geotechnical calculations and analyses related to stability, bearing capacity, settlement, deformation and ground and groundwater conditions,
- preparing drawings and design documentation,
- analysing geotechnical investigation results and field data, including the selection of soil parameters for design calculations,
- independently carrying out assigned design tasks, evaluating analysis results and proposing technical solutions,
- collaborating with international engineering teams,
- participating in infrastructure, building and other engineering projects,
- actively cooperating with engineering teams based in Sweden.
